His Perfect Performance

He needed the room to watch. She never heard the truth.

Youngest partner Garrett needs the room to see him making out with his girlfriend. Among the VIP-lounge crowd he explains that Blair is a deaf woman — and that none of this is true love, just a perfect performance. After a head injury, a hematoma pressing on a nerve leaves hearing gone for now, so the doctor's words arrive on a tablet. Blair still shows up in a sequined dress on the courthouse steps and at the gala, until his friends call him away. She goes home to her mother at the mansion asking what all this is, then tells him fine, Garrett, as she tries to live inside the lie.
